Has anybody visited India lately? I ask as my girlfriend is planning to travel to India with her father during the Easter holiday and has only just realised the eVisa system isn't permitted for UK residents at the moment (with no immediate plans to change).
The alternative appears to be two options, book an appointment, or apply by post.

Trying to find the option to apply by post appears impossible and I've no idea how long this will take. Any past experience or even a link to follow?

Finding an appointment for the second option within the UK is tough.
I've booked her an appointment at the Edinburgh office as it's the only one with spaces before travel, but even this is only 4 days before departure. Is this enough time? Who knows?

I used to travel to India on business and so it was a different Visa.
I used to go to the Birmingham Consulate for my appointment.
We would go through the paperwork and then go for a 3 or 4 hour walk before heading back to collect my Passport with Visa.

Its been more than 5 years but this site looks familiar. https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/

Thanks SC, that's the website that has the link to the eVisa (that we can't apply for) and for the paper application that we have already done so for.
Cheers, it gives me a little hope that a trip to Edinburgh won't be wasted.

Haven't done it since pre-covid, but I used to get my business visas same day. Can't see why a quick turnaround would be an issue with an in person appointment now.

What I will say is check, check, and triple check everything, as they seem to love their detail, bureaucracy, and red tape....silly stuff like you can't get a quick visa in person if applying in person within a country that is not the country your passport is issued from - but conversely you can still get a quick one by someone taking your passport and signed form to an appointment on your behalf without you present, as long as that is done in the country your passport is from.....made no sense, but that was their rule, and rules are rules as I found out once to my massive expense. Don't even get into how they act with regards to dual citizenship and second passports.
Obviously none of this is probably relevant to your situation of course, just check the detail is all I'm saying.

Looks like quarantine on arrival has just been implemented. Trip postponed till the summer holidays (she's a teacher). Another holiday bites the dust due to COVID
