Driving to the Arctic Circle
Discussion
I've done this but crossed over north of Rovaniemi , Finland .
Mid summer there will be no darkness at all , I also couldn't sleep and stuck my head out of my tent at 3am and it was almost broad
daylight .
Also find some decent insect repellant or take one of those complete hat / insect mask as there will be a million midges biting you .
I drove up the east coast side and same way back . There is a toll bridge you will need to register for at Sundsvall and also a toll
around Gothenburg on the west side .

A Swedish pal and I are thinking of a (summer) road trip to the Arctic Circle from his place near Malmo. Anyone else driven to the far north of Sweden or Norway ? Any tips ?
There’s a guy on the www.taycanforum.com/ who drove from Ireland to the Arctic circle (in a Taycan) earlier this year - very interesting read.Went to the arctic circle from Buckinghamshire in February 2009.
One of the best and most memorable trips I have ever done. Do it!
Tips
I went up the spine of Norway and then over the mountains to Sweden and back down the east coast of Sweden. The views are breathtaking but the speed limit is low and the enforcement keen so allow plenty of time. It gets very remote and I got in the habit of setting a trip meter when I passed a house - so that I new how far back it was to habitation if the car went technical.
Eating and drink out is eye wateringly expensive - so take plenty of money.
Watch out for the suicidal elks that appear from nowhere! I nearly hit a family of 3.
I found the people lovely and friendly. I spent a night deep in the forest with a couple of ex army guides and the remoteness and silence were like nothing that I have encountered before or since.
Enjoy!!
