Hi all,

In 2014 I was granted a subclass 417 visa (working holiday) for Australia. I enjoyed my time there, but did not use the 'working' part of the visa. Was basically an extended holiday.

I am getting the itch to do something different with my life. Im within the 18-30 age bracket (28), and tick all the other criteria for a 2nd Working Holiday Visa, apart from the fact that I did not work there the first time I went.

I am trying to find out whether A. I can apply for a 2nd Working Holiday Visa even though I did not work last time ( I would definitely work this time) or B. Whether I can apply for the 1st Working Holiday Visa since I didn't actually use the Visa for working before.

Pretty sure I know what the answer is, but cannot find out any definitive answer on the web. Unfortunately I do not have the skills or qualifications to apply for a different Visa.

America would be where I would love to work for a while at least, but they do not offer a Working Holiday Visa, except for working at a summer camp it seems.

Cheers

Unless something has changed since I did mine (which is entirely possible as it was 10 years ago), the 2nd year of the WHV has to be consecutive from the first (ie. without leaving Australia), and to get the 2nd year it was necessary to complete a certain quantity of 'farm' type work.

If you did no work and have since left Australia then I don't think you can return later.

Yes that was the case when I had mine, however it seems that the rule on that has now changed, unless I interpreted it wrong.
