Tower of London
Discussion
Morning all,
Mrs. Rath fancies a trip to the big city and a trip to the Tower of London whilst we're there. I've not spent much time in London at all, maybe two or three weeks in total over 50 years!! so wouldn't be too familiar with the old place at all.
Anyone have any recommendations of somewhere to stay, maybe within walking distance or a short tube ride from the Tower for two nights?
Budget I guess around £150-200 a night or is unrealistic?
Thanks for any advice....

We have just been up to London (last week) and stayed at the Hub (premier Inn) Covent garden. Loads to do and eat round there and we saw the Jersey Boys one evening. Walked to the tower from Hotel along the embankment, you could catch an Uber boat or tube back. Had a great day at the Tower, do the touristy thing and get the headphones for a fiver. As we got a train from Bristol we got into the Tower on a 2 for 1 deal.
Did just this the weekend before last, and I'm an ex Londoner, so was fun being a tourist for a change (mrs hasn't done much London).
Stayed at The Bailey's Hotel London Kensington - right opposite Gloucester Road tube, £320 for 2 nights - amazing location. No need to stay near the tower - london public transport is so good, and easy. Prob 30 mins including walk from where we were. Then there is Uber - which is amazingly cheap off peak and often cheaper than catching the tube if it's a one off for the day.
Tower is a couple to three hours at most. Cross the bridge and head for Butlers wharf/shad thames for a nice lunch.

the Tower Hotel is right on Tower Bridge and about 2 mins walk from ToL itself. I seem to recall that it was quite decent when we stayed there (albeit a little 'businessy', for want of a better expression) and not insanely priced
What he said. Terrific views from this hotel and decent pricesvixen1700 said:
Citizen M Hotel Tower Hill is nearby and always got decent reviews when I worked for a travel company.
Do this - you can also buy a ticket that gets you access to tower bridge and the monument to the Fire of Londonhttps://www.towerbridge.org.uk/your-visit/tower-br...
Take a leisurely walk over to the south bank and then down to Borough Market either for some decent market grub or book one of the restaurants for a nice meal?
If you want an outdoor adventure try one of these outdoor escape games?

Thanks again all, some helpful replies and suggestions of things to do......might have to increase it to a three or four day trip now!!
Seriously do that,so much more enjoyable being able to relax not rush around, plenty to do n see, different style of food each day, you'll enjoy it so much more If you travel by train, you can get 2 for 1 entry at the Tower of London (plus lots of other attractions) https://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/tower-of-london
I often stay at the Leonardo St Pauls, it's an easy walk from there to the Tower of London, opposite the Tate Modern and a nice walk to Borough Market. It's often available at a good price on Lastminute.com as a secret hotel - look for the description:
"Overlooking one of London’s most iconic landmarks, this contemporary four-star hotel features a luxury spa and pool, three restaurants and a 24-hour bar. A Trip Advisor Traveller’s Choice, this hotel is known for its great location, fantastic views and a light and airy design throughout."
