Has anyone been there in the last few weeks? First time visit and wondering if I need to book the Colloseum in advance? If so, which site is best as there appear to be lots and I can’t tell which ones are legit. I am after a tour really. Any other recent tips for visiting sites in the current COVID world?
Thanks

I had a quick look and as of February this year, you have to book online to get time slots. Sorry, I don't know the best sites to book on. Apperently the audio tours are best and try to get one with a tour of the Forum as well.

I have been to Italy many times and whenever I've wanted to book ahead for a gallery, museum, tour etc I've used Viator. Not used them for Rome, though.

When I go I use https://parcocolosseo.it/en/visit/opening-times-an... which is the official website. Book the Vatican tickets too as the queue is insane otherwise.

With China off the tourist list Rome will be wonderful. I've done Rome twice, once "pre China" about 13 years ago, and then again about four years ago. The difference was off the scale. Same with Florence. Unbearable would be a fair description, particularly at the Vatican, and that's once in, not the queue.

It was the same in Cambodia at Angkor Watt.

The sheer numbers of tourists was (and will again eventually be) mind blowing. Enjoy the calm whilst you can. Rome is one of my most favourite cities.

We didn't, albeit that was several years ago and not in the past few weeks. I think we bought them from the hotel. The hotel (Hotel Forum) was excellent with regard to sorting tickets and recommending good restaurants (none of which were tourist traps).

Quite envious of you actually, I could quite fancy a few days in Rome at the moment.

Thanks all for the advice, I wonder if they will relax the rules from 1st April as tickets are not yet available for certain main attractions,
