I will in a fortnights time be spending three nights in Bridlington.
My wife and I are booked into a Premier Inn on the seafront with parking etc.
So, what should we do, see, go to. We are both pretty easy to please. A mate's advice was to go somewhere else but Beverley was a nice enough place for a morning mooch.
Secondly eating out. We don't mind any style of food as long as it's good and we're about as far from fine dining people as you can get.
Anyone know the town? Any suggestions?

Oh and a Sunday lunch suggestion would be appreciated.

My sons stayed in that hotel a few times with their grandparents, it's only a few years old and quite nice. Reasonable restaurant attached to it too.

For Sunday lunch we've gone to Manor Court Hotel, located a few miles south at Carnaby.

Can't add much else in terms of dining places I'm afraid.

Other places to see are Filey, Flamborough (great fresh crab) and inland into The Wolds.

If you drive to Danes Dyke, there's a nice walk along the clifftop to Flamborough head.

Or visit Sewerby hall, which is an easy walk along the promenade from the town centre

I love to visit the East Coast but Brid is probably my least favourite town there. There's not much to keep you busy past a few hours.

I'd suggest going up the coast to Whitby for a day which is a lovely place.
Cayton Bay just outside Scarborough is a nice walk too.
Filey maybe worth a visit too.

For food - highly recommended in Brid -

Leo'z- really friendly family run restaurant, food is beautiful and not expensive.
Wild Bill's- really nice grub and beers

Nice walk on the prom at Brid if the weather is decent.

Whitby- always a decent day out

Runswick bay is lovely and not so rammed although not a lot of parking at peak times.

Hornsea has a couple of nice fish and chips shops and beach, not a lot else very quiet other than families on beach in nice weather.

We went to Yorkshire for a family holiday in August of last year (Filey to be precise)

Filey and Whitby are very nice and we also liked Peasholm Park in Scarborough too smile

Whilst the pub was far from fine dining, we liked the Royal Oak in Filey. Genuine home cooked pub food and I swear many of the people were in there because of the food at the holiday park we were staying at biggrin

Thanks all.
We've been to Whitby, Scarborough loads of times the idea behind going to Brid was to see a different bit of that coastine.
Leo'z and Goodfellas look like my kind of place, thanks.

We stayed at the Bridlington Links last summer. It was really nice. Its a lovely walk from the golf course along the beach to the town.

Bridlington itself is a bit run down, with not much open, but covid could be blamed for a good bit of that.

Flamborough head is really nice for a walk with great views of the cliffs and lighthouse.

I wasnt impressed when the wife booked the break, but actually really enjoyed it.

Probably too early for puffins but other migratory birds should be beginning to nest at Bempton

If you're up for a walk you can do out and back along the cliffs from Bempton to Flamborough or vice versa. Probably about 11miles there and back

Sorry 11 mile journeys are the reason we have a car.
I would no more consider walking that far than, well I don't know what.
Appreciate the info though.

I have a soft spot for Brid as it was our go to for childhood holidays, but tbh it's best bit is the road out.

The harbour and sea wall is a nice area but beyond that....

Dunno what yo like to do and ages and budget, but some options...

Fraisthorpe Beach for a walk to clear cobwebs - tank cubes, watch actual erosion as it drops off the cliff!

Sewerby Hall is typical National Trust stuff (although I don't think its NT). Nice walk there. The model village is quite good too.

Jacksons chippy in the old town was fab when we went - VERY good fish and pretty cheap. Was 10yrs ago though so may be different now.

A short drive...

Malton is nice, and the NYM railway & castle at Pickering.

Would certainly recommend walking to the seafront directly outside your hotel, turning left then taking in the walk to Sewerby Hall.

It’s quite pricey to access but lovely grounds and gardens, sea front all the way there.

There’s a fish and chip place in a cabin at the end of the prom and they are some of the best in the town, about 15 mins walk from your hotel, not sure if open this time of year.

If you leave your hotel and turn right, you go via the seafront towards the harbour and town, which is much busier.

Continue out via the Spa and you have Richie’s on the front (pub / cafe) then continue out that way and it’s very quiet on the South beach.

If your up for a short drive, Flamborough Head is lovely, the Headlands cafe next to the lighthouse serves good food.

On an evening for food, would recommend both the North Star and Seabirds (both Flamborough) but would suggest you book.

Scarborough is about 30 mins drive away with lots to explore.

North Landing Flamborough and Bempton Cliffs are a must. Venture a few minutes up to Filey. Great beaches for long walks too.

Edited to add: I worked on Prosperity and Summer Rose in my teens (see boat pics) and still know the owner smile

We parked the car at Flamborough Head and caught a taxi to Bempton, then walked back to the car. biggrin
Lovely walk. It was in June though and the weather was kind and the puffins were out!

OP - If you'd rather sight see by car it might be worth a run up to Robin Hood's Bay. That's an interesting village. Maybe also see the seals at Ravenscar on the way?

Had a week with the family in Brid last year. Yips was very good. Not just for Brid either. We also had two good nights at the Southside next door. Doesn’t look much by good food in a family atmosphere. Most disappointing was the more fancy Salt on the Harbour where the food was worse, took forever to come and the staff pretty indifferent to the whole thing

We've booked Leo'z for Friday night, Manor Court for Sunday lunch. Just Saturday night to cover now we fancy a steak and Wild Bill's looks good but nobody answering the phone.
