Looking to book a Monaco trip later this year ( 4 nights) we have been there before and stayed in the Fairmont which was nice.

However whilst there saw some of the "nicer" properties, Paris, Hermitage etc. and wondering if anyone has any experience of them and if they are worth the extra cost (probably £2k v £1.2k).

Looking in September if this makes a difference.

Thanks

Not in the same league price wise at the likes of the Hotel du Paris etc, but the Port Palace on the harbour has some of the best views across the water, a rooftop restaurant which has a wonderful terrace to dine on, and the rooms are very pleasant. Within a few minutes walk to the casino and opera house too. We’ve been there several times and have always enjoyed our stay.

Yes - we have seen that Port Palace has good reviews and have looked at rooms and prices, my only concern is that we are going whilst they will be setting up for the yacht show and so may not be the most peaceful place.

Yes, it’s a valid point. We’ve been there during that period and it’s certainly not intrusive. You could also consider it adds to the scenery as the harbour is chockablock with kit. This year may be different for other reasons. Good luck on your choice, and have a fantastic trip.

I've stayed at the Hermitage and Metropole.... The Metropole was imo nicer, much quieter as it's set back from the road and the rooms were larger, with more subdued décor etc. that made for a very relaxing stay. The breakfast was better too imo.

The Hermitage and The Hotel de Paris are on par in my view, so it is really a question of personal preference, both are really wonderful. The Metropole is a nice, cheaper alternative to both, and is also excellent.

Dining wise, I would say the de Paris has the slight edge.

The Japanese restaurant in the Metropole (Yoshi?) is exceptional
