Have flights booked with a group of friends to Poland next month.

Some friends are starting to think of alternative plans just in case things worsen

The cost of the flights (£29 per person per flight) is less than half the cost of the cancellation fees advertised by wizz air

If we were no shows would we get charged the missed departure fee? (73euros per person per flight)

Alternative question - would you travel to Gdansk at the moment? The FCDO has no advise against travel there currently

In terms of a no show, you wouldn't get charged (unless there is an explicit clause that says you will, which I doubt). The charges you mention are for if you miss the departure time and they have to put you on a later flight.

The Air Passenger Duty is only payable if you actually fly. You should be able to have that refunded by the airline. They only pay the tax at the time if the flight not when you booked

And it’s a high % but f the dare. I did this a couple of years ago. £170 flight to from Zurich to London. Told them I couldn’t travel and could I claim the tax back , got £100 back roughly.
