Genuinely 'asking for a mate'

There are five of us travelling from Belfast to France in June. We are taking the ferry from Rosslaire to Cherbourg.

I have been following the French entry requirements and for 4 of us there is no problem, we are fully vax'd with appropriate documentation.

1 of the group is not vaccinated (lets not go into why) and this is where I am not fully sure of the entry requirements - I understand that travelling from a green list country then you pay for a test before departure, where as orange you need a compelling reason to travel, isolate on arrival etc.

Northern Ireland / UK = Orange
Republic of Ireland = Green

As we are getting the ferry from R.O.I does this mean it should be OK for him to travel without getting knocked back? Is all this stuff checked in Rosslaire or at the Cherbourg end of the journey, or not at all for sea ports? He does hold an Irish passport if that makes any difference.

Cheers
Alan

I presume that this is with Brittany Ferries - in which case - look on their website.

The most stringent checks will be before you board the ferry - as if you're not let in at the other end, the ferry company could get fined (that's certainly what happens with Airlines).
