Hi
what the current situation with tolls around the orlando area (so the general tourist belt tampa/daytona) there used to be enough cash booths for it not to be an issue but having been caught out a few times at cashless exits its something id rather avoid at $5 a time for an admin fee from the rental company i assume more and more are getting moved to cashless. they offer $11.99 a day all you can use tolls but yeah there is no way i will hitting that many tolls.

plans are mainly around disney so no need for tolls (i assume the 528 is still cash) , but will be off to ksc, melbourne, daytona, tampa, crystal river and other places

I think they all went cash-less a while back - certainly when I was last in the area pre-Covid I didn't see any cash toll-booths and it was all just invoiced post-rental

Which airport are you flying in to? We last went 3yrs ago and used this - https://visitortollpass.com - but I think it has to be collected and returned at MCO.

Worked perfectly, and what I hadn't realised previously is often the tolls are quite a bit cheaper with the pass.

I've seen the odd comment about making sure the rental company's toll tranceiver is turned off, but when I asked about it I was met with blank looks and told charging works off the licence plate.

After years of faffing about, and being caught out a few times by unmanned tolls and not having change (although I never got charged), it's such a breeze to be able to just drive though tolls without thinking about it.

yeah exactly the same here on previous trips. this is a great solution though, i just need to hope there is actually a rental waiting for me as have read a few time recently where people haven't had a car even though the have booked one and been told yeah sorry you will have to find one elsewhere. im sure the rental crisis has got a bit easier though but first time using sixt in orlando so we shall see

There are still cash lanes (change given and exact coins only) on SR528 (Beachline) and 417 Beltway. Turnpike is almost all cashless, as are new express-lanes on I-4 through downtown.

On another note have you ever been to the strawberry festival think it's over Lakeland way? Is it worth a visit ?

Plant City - Tampa side of Lakeland. It's great (if you like strawberries!)

When I was in Miami the tolls were pass only, no option to pay. I just drove through and paid about $12 to the rental company

The visitor toll pass was very easy and no real point doing anything else

Unless you're flying in to any other Floridian airport as they are only available at MCO

Thats why I said Florida rather than Orlando wink ... but yes, indeed (and I will be one of them self-blamers soon - but £249 each return non-stop was too good to miss)

I've flown them a few times it was decent except Sanford obviously. But mostly Orlando airports are not good. Seems Melbourne is trying though and atleast your the only ones in the airport really
