Looking at a package holiday for our family to Cancun. Nothing mega fancy but does this seem good value?

Never been to Cancun before, anything I should be aware of?

Riviera Maya is an hour and change away from Cancun proper, so bear that in mind.

I went to Cancun in 2009 so any info I have will be out of date, but it's an incredible place and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I did see Cancun and thought don’t do it ! But i see your link is down in the posh bit.
Cozumel is well worth the boat ride, when we went the snorkelling was hardy PC, hopefully it has changed as great area.
Hire a car and go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chichen_Itza.
You can longer climb, not that I would ! I think the fact there were two ambulances always parked awaiting business. !!

Nice. Our fav place.

Look up:
Xel-ha
Xcaret
Xplor
X-cenote

Consider Tulum

Don’t stay locked up in your all inclusive.

Playa del Carmen has some good bars and restaurants too.

Cancun is beautiful but basically mexico for Americans. You might be there for spring break so full of drunk college students. Everyone will be trying to sell you something, especially timeshare. Great place for a night out.

Ideally try and do some day trips to see some real mexico, Mexicans are awesome when they are not trying to fleece the tourist. Tulum and surrounding area worth a visit, get to some cenotes. 2nd biggest reef system in the world so good diving and snorkelling, Akumal beach used to have turtles you can swim with

While there was a shooting recently, typically it’s a very safe area with lots of police around. If you get a rental car don’t speed, cops will get you and want a bribe.

Let’s be clear. You aren’t going to Cancun. You are going to riviera maya. Just landing at Cancun airport. Totally different experience.

Riviera Maya refers to that whole strip of land not one particular area. OP is going to Puerto Aventuras, South of Playa Del Carmen.
