I do, but i can't help as it all just happened pretty quickly, just over two months. Have you been invited to the US embassy yet?

stop wasting your time.

The US government shutdown at the end of 2018 has apparently created a huge backlog for these things. Some people are waiting over 6 months on the renewal.

Mine is pending renewal at the moment (applied for renewal in november), fortunately everyone waiting for a renewal has had theirs extended by 1 year, which suggests that they're not expecting the backlog to clear anytime soon....

Many many reports of people waiting well over 200+ days for the first time applications too.

Agreed!
I did my interview at MCO as I was in Tampa on business, so a whizz up the I-4 wasn't a big deal. They were really very friendly and helpful, and since I have 2 UK passports, they entered the details for both so I can use either - with a valid ESTA, of course. smile

TSA pre-check for internal US or leaving the US is a massive benefit, but having GE entering the US saves a ton of time at some airport immigration lines. No more passport stamps though....

Bringing this up as we are heading off to the USA (Miami) later this year. On the trip, we will then leave US to BVI and then have to re enter USA again before flying home.

It’s a few years ago, but MIA was shocking last time…..

Global Entry seems worthwhile??

ESTA, the UK vetting (clean as a whistle) and then GE application hoping for EoA at MIA. No rush on first entry.

Is this really worthwhile? Worth the ballache? Two of us w another couple.

Any tips or hints etc?

Thx in advance

Yep, this.... ^^^

If you're flying to MIA, I'm sorry! I had to travel through there before I had GE. It's horrible!
As Chicken Dinner said, I too used to be in the USA 5 - 6 times / year, plus internal flights, so GE was invaluable.
I had to book my interview at MCO when I was in TPA on business.
The extra work needed for 1 trip - not worth it!

(My brother returned to the USA on his US passport on Monday.
He had to wait 2 hours at ORD immigration as a US citizen.
Last time I went through there on GE it took me <10 minutes. laugh
He's now going to get GE as he now travels around the USA on business almost every week.)

Had my interview in NY about 6weeks ago - all happened quickly for me, but there was a background issue of being red-flagged (incorrectly) which may have expedited it all.

Thanks. Only issue for me/us is we have to come back in to the US via San Juan 3 weeks later w a connecting flight. In 2019, we did the US twice which is not unusual.

If GE DOES save time normally, isn’t it valid for 5 yrs?

Lastly, any idea if entering via San Juan is any better than first entry via MIA?

Thx all for useful replies so far
