Need a one night break in a nice Spa Hotel before baby number two arrives.

Currently thinking Feversham Arms or Rockliffe Hall? Anyone stayed at either?

Considered Swinton Park but it looks a little dated in places.

Any other suggestions?

Budget up to £500 for the night, inc Spa access & hopefully a food allowance but can top that up if required.

It'll be a Monday / Tuesday stay so we save a little by not going peak weekend time.

Rockcliffe is very nice and the spa has just been refurbed. Orangery restaurant is excellent. Can’t comment on rooms (we live local)

Have a look at Armathwaite Hall in the Lakes - fabulous , much nicer setting than Rockcliffe (eat in the Lake View restaurant, not the Bistro)

Have a look at Grantley Hall, near Ripon (not too far from Swinton Park). It was an old council building which was sold off and has been turned into a hotel - it opens in a couple of weeks time. Obviously no reviews yet!

Rudding Park near Harrogate. Lovely place, great Yorkshire breakfast, brand new spa. Family owned so not part of a large chain.

Are you taking child/baby number 1?

Feversham arms is nice. We went last year and they let us take our then 9 month old too. She was allowed in the restaurant and in the swimming pool too. Outdoor pool is heated - not super warm but not too cold to get in either.

Would also recommend The Star at Harome (we got married there). Also try Pipe and Glass (been a few times and one of our faves). Both of these will be fine with kids.

Yorebridge house is also really nice. Only been once a few years back but the meal was good. Go for a hot tub room if possible. Not sure if kids welcome here so double check.

Hmm so a few more days of research.....

DBB / Nice room / spa treatment for Mrs.

Grantley Hall - £520 - looks very nice, bit of a risk in it being so new?
Ruddings Park - £429 but the smallest room of the three. New spa looks very nice though.
Rockliffe Hall - £565 which includes £120 for access to the spa garden as the included spa doesn't have an outside area (1st world problems eh?) Biggest room though.

I stayed there in April - lovely place, great food, nice small spa and the outdoor pool is lovely. The rooms are in need of a little updating imo - that’s the only negative.

Yeah reading recent reviews on the Feversham - many of them mention that the rooms are in need of a spruce up.

Whatley Manor is just about sensible travel distance.

Comes in at a very similar price to the others.

My missus went there for a couple of nights last week - she'd been before a few years ago and says it's been considerably done up and she was was very pleased with it, although she noted the rooms don't have a/c, but it's very quiet so no probs with windows open. She said there were more couples than previously - she was there Thurs and Fri - pretty quiet on Thursday but busied up on Friday as people arrived for a Saturday wedding.

She says you really need to go for a couple of nights though to get the most out of it as you become a member so can do the classes - she did archery and some other thing. She used a Secret Escapes offer but I don't know the cost details.

She also suggest Ragdale Hall, Melton Mowbray.

That and allowing 9 month old babies in the restaurant would see it off my list
