I don't know wether this is a warning or a rant.

Was at work today and about to go off till monday, so i thought i'll add 2 more days and go away, spur of the moment kind of thing. Anyhow, get back rope my brother in to ride shotgun and we set about finding some cheap last minute deals, a month ago i had found a few which kept my thinking about these and it seemed a great idea a while ago. Today i had no luck, but found something good on teletext holidays, it was just some holiday to spain for 5 nights all inclusive just to get away from the horrible weather.

So, i had booked the holiday with the people through the website by phone, they told me that they could not confirm they had booked the holiday as everything is available but they just have to package everything together, queue a tense wait and another phonecall saying that a manager is dealing with the booking and low and behold an hour later and they've left it that late the flight is no longer available and they want another 100 pounds for the same holiday. I am livid, i was rather looking forward to a break away and its been undone by these people.

Rant/warning over, don't use these morons.

Ask them to pay the £100? If you don't ask, you don't get. Last year 4 of us were offered a holiday at a reduced price because it was a cancellation & they had reduced it by £500 in total.
We asked for a further £200 off & guess what? They did it for us! So we got a holiday that should have cost 3k for £2300. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Too late to ask, although i should of really. Next year i will shop around and plan a little more thoroughly as this was only a last minute thing on my part as well.

OT beach do it as well, they say live prices but need something like 24 hrs to confirm & if the flights are not available (or vice versa) you still have to pay for the accommodation or a cancellation fee - if that happened you would really be livid !

Don't get me started on Alpharooms price matching policy though mad

I have heard good things about travel republic though, I'll probably go with them next.

Wow, not sure what I am more surprised about, that Teletext Holidays still exist or the fact they stalk the web looking for reference to themselves hehe.

Hope you get something sorted out

Why muppet? OP complains about a company who then turn up, say sorry and please pass us some details so we can do better. This is not from the AVO school of customer relations (yet)

So you genuinely think that they have just joined PH to say sorry?

Looks like it, doesn't it? No doubt that reputation on online forums is VERY important these days, so I'd guess that the teletext holidays people have a piece of software (a lot like google no doubt) which will alert them when there's new hits on certain keywords within social media.

This allows them to open a dialogue with the person who's feeling agreived and hopefully resolve their problem and nip any bad press in the bud.

Not saying it's teh same thing, but on watchdog you always find that the customer cases highlighted by the show get the best result from the company, since they want to satisfy the noisy ones. Giving this guy £100 off his holiday would be a small price to pay vs. him going off on a proper rant and hundreds of people seeing it and having a negative impression of the firm.

If his case is resolved well he'll no doubt pass his good news story on too (albeit I think people tell 3 times as many people when they're upset vs. when they're happy!) Still, not "muppet" IMO.

I agree with mrmr96. They might not have joined just to say sorry, but I suggest they are one of an increasing number of companies who have a social media unit which monitor the internet to promote and protect their business. The ease that a bad review can propogate these days means that those in cut throat industries, such as holidays, which the UK has proportedly the largest online base (meaning tech savvy consumers), need to be able to react quickly to ensure satisfaction and stem any run away bad press cases.

As a consumer this is to be applauded as it means we get a better service which we on PH constantly bang on about. Well done them, I say.

I do.

It's happened before on a number of occasions on this forum. Wish I could remember one of the other companies who did this recently so I could provide you with a link. It might not convince you, but I think it is them.

If I am wrong I will apologize but I see to many "new members" appearing & ultimately take the pi** out of the OP's.

Thank you, i do share some of the skepticism of other posters, but its nice to see efforts made to sort things out. However as someone has posted, they've played an OTbeach move and allowed me to think im fully booked before theyve even sorted out the deal, i feel they will not be the only two who do this.
