Turkey Recommendations
Discussion
Hi all,
My wife and I are looking into going to Turkey for the first time and to be honest my impression of the place has not been great up until now so I am looking for some advice on the best area to go.
We have been looking at a Hilton hotel in Sarigerme which looks very nice but I am concerned about what activities may be on offer, while my wife would be happy to lay by a pool with a book for a week I prefer more activities and like to get out an about a bit.
Any help would be great, interested in Car hire for example is it safe?. I've driven in Greece and the USA just wondering if its any better or worse in Turkey.
I've also heard that it is possible to visit Egypt for the day or overnight, as anyone any experience of this.
Thanks

You are in the right area.
I love Kas - not too much further south.
I couldnt recommend hiring a car strongly enough - the whole area is like an open air museum!! Some of the roads have a few pot holes (but we seem to be doing a good job catching them up on that front!)... just jump in and get involved (round abouts take a bit of getting used to in towns).
Food in that area is so plentiful - vast amounts of fruit and veg is cultivated there.
All the people I met were so friendly and welcoming.

I really rate this part of Turkey, great people, very friendly and funny.
My parents own/rent out an apartment in the mountains outside Dalaman.

Beautiful place with some stunning scenery.
I was there in may, hire car was £99 for a week (Fiat Albea, delivery miles, gutless but fun).
Sarigerme is 15mins away, everything on the coast is within an hour/hour and a half of Dalaman..
Its a relatively new development set in a valley with a private lake, farm, equestrian centre, golf etc.
It doesn't get too busy, was only one other couple there when I went.
Can't wait to go back.
Went to Lykia world in 2009 and thought it was very good (especially the free Tuborg on tap everywhere you turn), but I felt a bit stuck.
Don't think all inclusive is really my thing, prefer a car and places/restaurants to visit.
