Cheap sun holidays near cities?

OK, so far the OH wants to go to Tenerife. I am really not that sure this would work for me. He wants to laze in the sun which is cool. I might get a bit bored after a few days, so will need to so something else.

Is there any resorts which can give him the sun, swimming pool and beach for him and an interesting town/city for me to look around?

Looking for all inclusive if poss, around £450 in last September.

Off the top of my head... Barcelona (tho probably pushing your budget and don't know how easy all inc. is to find in a city that size - I'd stick to Tapas bars!)/ Palma/ Malaga?

Plenty of resorts round Palma in Mallorca.

What sort of other things would you want to be doing? Partying or sightseeing?

I've never been save to Protaras in the north but I'm sure Cyprus would have some cultural sightseeing in places like Limmasol.

Palma and Barcelona both have their cathedrals. Granada has the Alhambra Palace and fantastic mountains but it's a way to the coast.

So far as Tenerife is concerned, you can drive up to Mount teide national park which is fantastic for scenery but it's always less fun on your own. I always end up leaving my wife and kids at the villa while I go off and explore on my own.

If you don't mind driving round, Mallorca had lots of places to visit so Palma might be a good choice and has an old railway that runs up to Soller which is well worth a ride.

Sightseeing, activities and some nice resturants really. My partying days are just over, but do like a few nice glasses of wine with my food!
