Managed to get BA First for my next two US trips. Anyone have experience of BA? I've done Emirates First, thanks to a free upgrade, but never BA.

Any pointers welcomed.

I flew BA First to NEW YORK.

God it was amazing and actually makes me want to fly!

The food was personally prepped, the wine had a sommelier touch and the day beds more comfy than I would have thought.

Would do again if allowed!

Regularly. What do you want to know?

Which route? Should be able to tell you the likelihood of it being new F or old F and a 777 or 747 (makes a difference).

Plenty of info on the BA flyertalk forum which will help you maximise the experience.

I prefer Emirates myself, but I'm shallow and it's mostly to do with the generally more attractive and exotic cabin crew, the personal cabins and the general ostentation of the cabin.

Make use of the Concorde Room in T5.

Enjoy it, I had had a much better sleep on my last trip in First than I ever get in business.

£4k for a kip!

I'd take a couple of Zopiclone, slum it in economy and spunk the remaining £3k on something to enjoy whilst awake.

While I concur, I'd imagine the experience is meant for those that don't need to compromise. That is, they'd spunk 4k on the sleep, then spunk 3k on something to enjoy whilst awake tongue out

Time is money, and since I always have to connect when I travel, the advantage of a use of a lounge is useful, plus when I arrive in the country I'm more able to work adequetly.

Most of my travel is for business purposes and it is mostly business class travel, except when I'm bumped up to first. I normally fly BA as they get me to where I need to go and when I travel on holiday I fly business as I use BA Avios to upgrade to business from preium economy, thus saving money to spunk elsewhere smile

Saying that I'm flying my wife and daughter out to Singapore on BA first class as it was cheaper than business.

BA First is a very variable product. A great cabin crew with the new style First cabin and decent food, is up there with the best. The 'hard' product may not be at the same level as SQ Suites to name but one, but it is an excellent overall experience. On the other hand, get a tired, dirty, old style First class cabin with a mediocre cabin crew and dreadful food (as happens not all that infrequently), and it is a gigantic waste of money.
If you're on a 747 seats 1A and K or 2A and K are the ones to go for if travelling solo. On a 777 go for 2A or K or 3A or K.

I'd be interested to hear opinions on BA cabin crew.
