Bangalore - what to do on a weekend?
Discussion
I was there a few years ago and had a free weekend, company arranged for a one night stay down at a
National park south of Mysore - long journey by car , but well worth it .
Was the me price as staying in my Bangalore Hotel for the weekend.
I had a driver , well if you can call him that m just close your eyes and pray
Stopped at Mysore Palsve on the way and then on to the Park.
Game drive , evening meal and drinks.
Morning game drive , breakfast and them headed back to Bangalore.
Saw Elephants, monkeys, Indian buffalo (called Goor I think) and Indian Wild dogs - no Tigers though , wrong time of year.
Can't remember name of Park , but I'm sure you'll be able to arrange the trip once there...
Have fun.,,,,

Thanks. Went and came back in one piece.
Ended up going to Mysore on the weekend. Saw the palace, Charmundi Hills, Brindavan Gardents and a few other places. Was a decent day trip, albeit long - 0600 we left, got back at 0030!
Agreed the driving in India is nuts. I thought we were going to crash several times. Good experience though and glad I went.
FYI to anyone else:

FYI to anyone else:
- Mysore is probably the best bet for a weekend get out and about trip. Not sure if Bangalore itself has much in the way of attractions.
- Watch out for crazy traffic and even crazier drivers!
- Food is good, I went mostly veggie but ate some meat. Didn't have a problem, and that included the lunchtime prison slop buffet in the office
- Really don't drink the water or use it to brush teeth. It's river water which has had some treatment.
- Fortune Select Trinity hotel (in Whitefield) is ok, beds are rock hard though. Service is a bit in your face and the wifi is s
te. - Allow plenty of time to get from A to B, traffic is so bad it often felt like I'd be better walking.
- Be wary that Indians will often say yes or make up fictitious answers to questions so as to not lose face.
- Allow plenty of time in BLR airport. Security took a while (got frisked even though the metal detector didn't go off) and there's no fast track. Also beware that they won't let you into the terminal until 3 hours before your flight.
- Get used to paying more than locals for tourist attractions. 40RP for a local, 200RP for a foreigner!
