Need a place this Saturday night. I am a big fan of Relais & Chateaux type boutique hotels but so far all Southamption has offered is the Holiday Inn.

Anyone have any recommendations - needs to be close to town.

Never stayed there but the Devere [sp] is meant to be nice, and Is in the middle of town.

Or chilworth manor is only 15 minutes out of town and is meant to be very good.

Looks like Southampton is pretty full this Saturday - not much on Laterooms left.

Hmm - if you want a nice hotel in Southampton......

....I'd be inclined to go somewhere else.

(What sort of radius is acceptable, because there are some good places not to far away!?)

Hmm not much in Southampton really, which is a shame. To be honest you are better off heading slightly on the outskirts, new forest has some amazing hotels.

Limewood in the new forest is good but a drive from Southampton, in town http://www.whitestartavern.co.uk/ is alright.

Depends how far you want to travel. Careys Manor just inside the New Forest is less than 30 minutes away from Southampton. It's a country house style hotel.

There's the Grand Harbour http://www.devere-hotels.co.uk/hotel-lodges/locati...

Tends to be where the footballers/potential WAG's hang out.

you could be a bit stuffed, even hotels.com are saying only the holiday inn, i would look towards the new forest, centre of town seems to be stacked this weekend.

http://www.solenthotel.com/

Depending on route - 10-15miles from centre of Soton (50% motorway miles) and hotel is just off the M27.

I live in Whiteley - the Solent is ideal for the Business Park , not ideal if you have business or commitments in Southampton. Taxi is about £30 to get back after dark.

Lovely hotel and spa though. Good enough for most, as I found when I met Nigel Clough and his Derby players staying there at the end of the season (many teams stay there for Portmouth and Southampton games)

The Chewton Glen would have been right up your street.

Cheering Glen doesn't do anything as common as a "street".

But must only be about 10 minutes by helicopter?

Try the DeVere down in the docks, its good service and nice rooms if you get one facing the docks, can watch the big liners coming and going
