Discussion
I'm looking to fly to San Francisco in October with British airways. I am visiting a friend so I have free accommodation and I am looking to upgrade. I would love to fly business class but at the moment the flights are looking very expensive. Is there any hope of my getting this flight return for around £2000 ?
Any help is welcome,
Thanks

Not sure if this will be valid for your dates, but worth a shot. Even if that particular deal is no good for you, he's also got good links to find the kind of fare you're looking for.

Sometimes when I've been online to book economy flights for the wife and I with BA, just before completion of the booking I've had a message that I can upgrade to club for £x. For example, last year I booked economy LGW to Naples in September and got the offer of upgrading the whole trip for the two of us for an additional of £120 which I jumped at. Maybe being an BA Executive Club member has helped.

Not valid for the dates but that is very good prices, once I can find flight for the dates I am looking for for around £2000 I will be booking.http://blog.continentalclub.co.uk/other/british-ai...
It might be possible. In December I booked a premium economy flight for LHR LAS, which cost £1100 in the BA Sale.
I've just got back, and managed to upgrade each leg of the flight for £225, so a total cost of £1550. I got lucky that they hadn't sold out Club seats. That price was only available 5 minutes before check-in opened. I had hoped to upgrade using my miles, but no reward seats were released between my original booking and the flight.
I'm not sure being a member of the Executive club helps, because anyone can be a member. Having status might help, but in theory it only helps if there are forced upgrades required on a flight.
The Naples upgrade is Club Europe, so a complete waste of money in my opinion, and not relevant to the SFO flight.

Of course I know Naples is Club Europe but it is an illustration of what is sometimes on offer from BA although not advertised. I also think that being a BA EC member was nothing to do with it. A total addition of £120 for two upgrades on a round trip basis was well worth buying in my view.
Having flown EasyJet last week to/from Malpensa (never again!)at a not too dissimilar cost, BA Club was well worth the money.
