Bali with family
Discussion
Hi guys,
Taking a short break in October to Bali. I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old (when flying) so need a family friendly place.
The Oberoi looks nice in Seminyak and my wife has instructed me to only look in Seminyak (don't ask why, we've both never been.)
Any hints/tips for best places to stay?

I'm also of to Seminyak in October, although no actual kids, myself and my wifes friends husband qualify. we looked at the Oberoi but decided on a private villa again.
Seminyak has one of the best beaches, but watch out for the sea and only swim/paddle between the flags as there are some serious currents. Lots of great restaurants and shopping a short walk away + an M&S in Kuta for those emergency supplies.
With a family I would consider Nusa Dua. A bit isolated if you want to escape the Hotels but good safe quiet beach.

Just got back from a long weekend in Bali - quite unimpressed to be honest. What sort of holiday are you after?Taking a short break in October to Bali. I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old (when flying) so need a family friendly place.

If you want quiet sandy beaches, then go to Lombok or Gilli - Seminyak was very busy, the roads are awful, and if you are just going to stay in the hotel, then you could gho anywhere. If you want to explore, then be prepared to spend 4 hours a day in a car going nowhere slowly.
North is quieter, if you want to get a villa with some staff and just chill for a few days.
Up north looked better as it's quieter and more chilled, especially if you just want to get a

Most of Bali has become the Benedorm for Australia.
There are some very nice (and expensive) Villa's up in the tea plantations but most are very much not child friendly, and are also more geared up for people from Singa / Honkers etc coming for a relaxing weekend break.
Personally would recomend looking to either west / north side of Bali (as far away from Denpasar as possible), to the south of the airport or to Lombok.
I can recommend this place:
http://www.alampurivilla.com/
It says its child friendly and has a nice pool, etc...
Depends on how much you want to spend of course:

Although it is in the middle of nowhere... so do bare that in mind.
So really it depends on what you want from your holiday... Although I would say that last time I went it was to travel round the island and not just stay at the same villa/hotel for more than a few days, so I can only go off what I thought of it after staying there for 3 days before moving on to Ubud.

A very good mate of mine recommends this place:
www.villatandeg.com/villas/
Nice and quiet, overlooking the paddy fields with your own staff.

Thanks for the comments guys.
We're going with my Brother in law also. Mainly a relaxing holiday as work has been mental lately and having a new baby in the mix has been a real eye opener.
So some lazy days by the beach and maybe 1-2 days adventuring.
Flights were booked today and looking around for a nice Villa.
Hope I don't get Bali belly!

We went last October and stayed in Ubud for a few days - very nice but not that family-orientated.
We also stayed in Nusa Dua, which was much more of a resort - I suspect the kids will be much happier there. We stayed at the Melia Bali which had all the facilities you'd expect and a nice stretch of beach.
