Another car hire thread, Italy this time.

My girlfriend and I are planning on a driving trip around Italy this summer. She's deadset on having a Fiat 500, but despite a fair bit of googling we're having trouble finding anyone who rents them. We did find a company who rent out the classic ones but I'm really not that brave! If anyone has any ideas or pointers they would be much appreciated!

Hertz rent them as part of their green collection but depends on rental location. So for example Linate airport in Milan rents them but Bergamo Aiport doesn't.

There are plenty of horror stories on PH (and elsewhere) of tourists driving through central areas of built up areas where they do not have permits. Make sure you do your homework or you'll face some nasty fines. The Italian police do and will track you down...

I rented a black Fiat 500 from Pisa Airport. It was either Avis or Hertz - not expensive. Really enjoyed the car.
