We are off to Italy over Easter smile

We are staying around Lake Garda, however we plan to visit Venice for the day. We will have a hire car so the plan is to drive to Venice and park up somewhere? and then get a bus into the centre.

Has anyone done this? if so can you recommend a car park and even better the address for my sat nav.

Cheers

Matt

Drive over the causeway towards Venice and then turn right to Tronchetto parking which is a hugh multi story car park. You can get a vaperetto from here to the Grand Canal and all the sights.

Yes. Dead easy. We did exactly the same when staying in Riva del Garda.

No! It's rather expensive to park there. Parking in Mestre on the mainland is much cheaper, and it's close to the railway station, which is only (I seem to remember) one stop from Venice. We parked there when we went last time, four years ago, and saved a fortune (well, quite a lot).
