Can anyone recommend a good, centrally located, 4* (or 5*) hotel in Rome? Need a bit of inspiration.

Cheers.

Aldrovandi Palace.
Lovely.
I grant you, it's not dead central, but there is a free courtesy car to and from the Spannish Steps.
Hotel restaurant, Baby, is wonderful.

Wonderful city.
Just be very wary of pickpockets. Especially if you go anywhere near the train station!

This is where we went on honey moon! Lovely rooms and very short taxi ride to the centre of town. Le Pergola restaurant on the top floor is one of the best Ive been too and the views of Rome are about as good as it gets. Definately worth a look!

Seconded, me and the former MrsDom9 went there for an anniversary! Great walk down to the Vatican and on through the city, if the weather is good. Am I also right in recalling there is a Michelin starred (maybe 2/3*) restaurant in there?

Cheers, I work in travel but have had so many conflicting opinions I just wanted to see what people think. Rome Cavalieri looks right up my street.

One of the best 5 days Ive ever had! Not exactly cheap, but then again you get what you pay for! I forgot to mention that the food in the L'Uliveto was also excellent and much more relaxed that the Pergola.

And the taxi drivers, sleight of hand cost me 50 euros on the ride back to the airport.

I "stayed" their last summer when I was in Rome for a wedding. Turned up and was aksed to walk 10 mins up the road to another "hotel" as there was a problem with my room. The other hotel wasn't much more than some rooms in a building with no hotel facilities.

Made my feelings well known and found myself in the best room in the Locarno the next night. The room I eventually got had air conditining unlike some friends that were also staying at the hotel.

The courtyard bar is nice though.
