More than I can chew? Toubkal!
Discussion
Right! So me and my other half have decided to do a 3 day trek up Toubkal Mountain in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
It's about 4000 M high and is a fair few hours per day walking, planning to go in august and whilst we are both fairly fit - little aprehensive about the heat and the fact we will be up early every day and not much relaxation.
Having said that, when we do reach the top I think there will be a huge sense of achievement and memories that you can't put a price on!
Just wanted some ideas, advice on what to take, bearing in mind we have to lug it over there on sleasy jet.
Anybody done it?
Thoughts/experiences please

I did it a few years ago over 3 days going up, with the summit on the morning of the third day. You could do it quicker but you are more likely to suffer with altitude sickness. It was not that inspiring at the top, graffiti covered sign, rubbish and lots of people (despite leaving early). I personally enjoyed the summit nearby (sorry cant remember the name)deserted and unspoilt. Its one of those thing you have to do when you are there but the journey up from imnil and the other walks were more rewarding.
In terms of fitness I was average and my girlfriend was super fit. She struggled with the altitude where I was ok. If you dont suffer from that you will fly up! There is only a small scramble to do. HTH

Thanks for that, I've heard it's a bit like a slag heap and not the most scenic of mountains but the walk through the villages sounds good!
How did you find the prices?, we were planning to have a few days in Mararakech and then a day to relax there after before we fly home.
Got a cost of about £250 for the trek from a company www.pillow.co.uk going to arrange the flights ourselves.
Any further tips etc always appreciated!

It is a slag heap, there are many more worthwhile mountains to climb.
And I can't see how they can justify charging £250 for the trek. The hut's about 2p a night, and, er, that's it. We hired a taxi (one of the communal Mercs) to ourselves from Marrakesh and sorted the rest when we got there.
