Places to stay near Kings Lynn

In a couple of weeks I'm off to Norfolk.

As it is a fairly long trip from Oxford I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of any nice areas to stay?

As a youngster I used to holiday in Wells Next To The Sea, but my memory is now hazy...

Main criteria:

Not too far from Kings Lynn
Nice place to stay (B+B) doesn't need to be a 5* hotel, on a bit of a budget
Couple of OK pubs/restaurants
fairly compact, so walkable. Don't really want to use the car when we are there.

The Le Stange Arms in Hunstanton is only 10 miles from Kimgs Lynn and IMHO is much nice than the Knights Hill, although I have not stayed at the Knights Hill for years.

Location is definitely much nicer though
