Has anyone done this? I will arrive with a lot of sports equipment. Is it a major problem to get a car at the airport rather than on the Spanish side of the border, ie. how long does it take to cross the border once in the car. How long does it take / how far is it from airport to pick up point on Spanish side.

Any first hand advice appreciated.

Don't get a car in Gib, get a trolly and walk across into La Linea, where you can pick up a car from the car park under one of the many stty flat blocks.

What sort of delays are experienced at the border in a car, is it really a big problem?

it changes but last i heard it was bad
its a 10 min walk

Getting out of Gib is usually pretty easy - depending on how Manuel at the boarder feels, getting back in can be a real drag.

The same 10 mins no difference, you are 15mins from Spain or bar to bar
