Winter sun wth kids?

Hoping to get away for a week or so to catch some proper winter sun. Used to go long haul but now have 13 month old twins so don't want to spend too long (6hrs ish max) on a flight. Any suggestions?

Inevitably the Canary Islands which is 4 hours and as much as I can stand my kids for....

Lanzarote is probably the best around Costa Blanca, my kids loved it there. A lot of it is fairly dull though
Fuerteventura is a lot less developed and fairly bleak in parts.
Tenerife has more to do and Loro Parque zoo in the north is a fantastic day out. Avoid boat trips as they only make you heave and you won't see any dolphins. Fantastic scenery up around El Teide volcano too.

My one resounding memory of Tenerife was a dolphin watching trip from Los Cristianos on a catamaran, out of 50 ish people on board I was one of about 3 who didn't spend the whole trip hueing. Oh, and we did see some dolphins but the swell was making everyone so ill we turned back after an hour.

We went from Los Gigantes - Jeez, just making it round the harbour wall was like 3 hours round Cape Horn with huge crashing waves. I'm not naturally seasick having done a great boat trip and snorkelling in Cyprus but seriously, The Perfect Storm looked quite enticing after it.

We first took my son to Tenerife when he would have been 16 months. Flight was fine, and better than when we did it with him 5 months later! we went in November 2010 and again in April last year.

Loads to do for him, weather is pretty predictable too but still nicely warm. Loro parque is excellent, well worth the trip.
