I am planning a trip to the US and Hawaii for later in the year (present for girlfriend and my parents). My initial rough plan is:

Fly UK to Las Vegas
3/4 nights in Vegas (and hire a car base for trips to Grand Canyon etc)
Drive to LA then San Franciso via a few national parks.
Fly San Francisco to Hawaii (Oahu) - stay about 1 week.
Fly to Big Island for a few days.
Fly back to UK (via Oahu and San Fran / LA)

Has anyone done such a trip? I'm trying to work out the cheapest way including booking separate flights / hotel / car hire, all-in deals (if possible) and various combinations. Not decided on car hire for Hawaii - may just use excursions for getting around.

Thanks

That's an awful lot of travelling! You'll need to allow a full day to get from the wast coast to Hawaii, and the same again to to return. How long were you planning the whole trip to take?

Looking at 3 weeks in total. I may have to play around with the time in each location. As I say, just my initial plan so far.

Me and Mrs Ghost did London to SF to Hawaii to LA to London with all hotels, flights and transfers sorted out a couple of years ago now.

We used Trailfinders and have done for 18 years as they look after us very well. Give then a try as they can sort out car hire as well including one way rentals if you want to pick up in LV and drop off in LA for example.
