Most out of the way place you've been to.

As the title says where is the most out of the way place in the world you've ended up?
Went to Norfolk Island a couple of years ago, fascinating history tied in with Pitcairn Island. Great place to spend a few days with the best cemetery in the world.
About 15 years ago I drove (in a Triumph Herald) to the most northerly road point in the UK - on the island of Unst in the Shetlands. (It's on google street view)
For complicated reasons I ended up at the Senegal Gambia border post at 4am one day in 1991, without a car but with a bad dose of the trots. Having been driven down from Dakar in a bush taxi overnight.
Over to you.
Been Sea kayaking 250 miles north of the Artic circle. The Lofoten Islands Norway. http://g.co/maps/du387

In 1999 wife and I went to Papua New Guinea and then on to the island of New Britain. Google it to see how remote it is.
Stayed in Rabaul at the Submarine Base Resort: all of maybe 6 tropical huts, a bar and a small diner. No TV, no computer etc. Got collected from the airport by pick up truck for an hour's journey through the jungle etc.
Just a fantastic week's stay there. Why were we there? Because our son and his wife were on a 2 1/2 year contract to work in PNG and he arranged for the four of us to holiday there for the week.
Totally remote, fab for diving etc. Just unforgettable.

Overnight in a monastery in Mount Athos - not for regilious reasons, I was advising a specialist contractor and it's not exactely a day trip from Athens. Genuinly like stepping back to the 16th centuary, as an non Greek Authodox a real treat, I had to have a pass signed personally by the Greek home secretary to get in!
I'm planning a trip to Ulleng-do and Dok-do, islands between Korea and Japan for sometime in the spring. Korea and Japan have fought over Dok-do which is basically a small rock in the ocean for decades. It is 3 hours ferry from the mainland and I guess very few foreign tourists have been there.
I've been to some pretty remote parts of the Northern Territory in Australia and delivered books to some remote rural schools in the west of the Serengeti in Tanzania i.e. the bit without the cool animals and with lots of dirt tracks and poverty!

Probably here http://g.co/maps/4am53
It really is the back of beyond - a city in the middle of nowhere and one massive NPP.

Probably D-Island in the Caspian Sea.

And a vid from one of our trips there in the FRC...

I recently spent a weekend in a little village called Gortahurk on the west coast of Donegal and I can honestly say it's the most out of the way place I have ever been. It seems to have been disconnected from the rest of the world for the past 40 years but I enjoyed it. The atmoshpere was so laid back and relaxed, unlike anywhere I've been on holiday before where it has been all hustle and bustle.
