Thought I would pick your collective brains for some suggestions, I am off to LA at the end of the moth for 3 days before I move on to Vegas. Have been to Vegas numerous times but never spent more than a night in LA. Looking for suggestions for restaurants and things to see/do etc.

We are staying in the Mondrian Hotel on Hollywood Blvd. I am quite keen to take in a studio tour of some description, after looking at a few reviews the Warner Bro's one seems to tick all the boxes. But apart from that I have no ideas. Going with a mate of mine and we are in our late 20's so any nightlife suggestions as well would be appreciated. Cheers guys.

For nightlife, just step out from the Mondrian and enjoy Sunset Strip. Great choice.

Definitely check out Venice Beach boardwalk. All sorts of crazy characters. I paid these guys a visit hippy - actually had to have a "medical exam" to get the licence rofl even the docs are in on it.

I've only been to Long Beach in that area, can happily say that it was one of the best places I've been, this view might have changed if I could have ventured into other parts of the area.

Prefered it to New York, but this was in the height of the summer- unsure what it'll be like now?

I used to live there.....you must have led a very sheltered existence if it's one of the best places you've ever been!

We didn't venture far from the beach and the bars and restaurants around it. Like I said, we only had a limited time there (12 hours-ish) and the weather was fantastic. Maybe I was over exagerating that it was the best place I had ever been, it was probably the best place I've been this year, and most certainly the best place in the USA that I have so far been to.

Do you not mean The Mondrian on Sunset Blvd?

I stayed there last month, and the Sky Bar they have there can get pretty fun some evenings! If you like your music you got all the good places within walking distance...Whiskey, Viper, House of Blues is opposite the hotel (if i have the right one).

Try the Roosevelt Hotel, they have a club called Teddy's which is a fun place.

Oh and how could i forget...you have Saddle Ranch on sunset, which is pretty cheesy but you must go and try a drink called the Adios Mofo! Get one each about 40$ or something like that in total...you can thank me later!

I might have been a bit harsh as the (small) area near the beach actually isn't too bad. Just don't head inland! :-)

The bar at the Sunset Marquis is always a "spot-the-celeb" hoot.
