So are we all agreed - Air Miles are now pretty rubbish?

I have collected AM's for years and had great free trips before however the recent news seems to have devalued them greatly.

Is the general concensus not to bother from now on?

I have around 30,000 collected with a view to a big trip in a couple of years (The last one was 3 x Business class flights to Florida and a suite in a hotel = 45,000 AM's only - no cash!) however hearing horror stories of the charges I am thinking it isnt worth it from now on. I don't want to book by Nov/Dec (or whenever it is) this year so will not be able to use them as AM's. They will then become Avios (?)

I collect mine with a credit card and get around a 1000 each month. I am thinking of changing my card and getting benefits elsewhere (money off vouchers etc)

Any definative thoughts on this folks?

Generally agreed that they are not as good as before.

It does really depend on what kind of trips you would be intending to take, etc and availability for redemption.

Unfortunately, I can't give a definite answer, but will watch this topic.

Yep - Brown's travel-envy-tax and fuel surcharges are making things very expensive for 'free' flights.

Air Miles are rubbish. However, don't confuse them with what were BA Miles until the recent announcement.

After some thought I think I will switch my choice from AM's to store vouchers and re address my overall purchases so that I spread them across 2 CC's in order to get benfots across 2 stores.

This will halve my spend with the one CC which until this point got 2-3k per month.

I wonder if they will notice and contact me
