Hi

Just had to cancel my 14 year old lad's school skiing trip in January as he has developed problems with his knees which are unlikely to be sorted by then frown

Cue one unhappy kid (he loves skiing) frown

However we have said - by way of some small recompense - that we will go away for 2-3 nights as a family between Xmas and NY. This is where you lot come in with some suggestions if possible? smile

First idea is to go to London however I am worried about the cost of 2 rooms for 2-3 nights at that time of year.

Criteria are

- Don't want to fly anywhere abroad so UK based only
- Somewhere to stay - either 2 rooms in a hotel or rent a place for a short time
- Needs to be close to bars/restaurants etc as my wife has MS and can't walk too far (also neither of us would want to drive either beersmile )
- Enough stuff to see/do to fill a couple of days (bearing in mind the 14 year old is with us)

TIA

I know you said you didn't want to fly and UK only, but why not jump on the tunnel and drive for an hour and spend a few days in Bruges.

Lots of lovely bars and restaurants, plenty to see for a few days, especially and Christmas as the market should still be on.

Happy hunting. smile

No suggestions folks?

How about ay recommendations for central London hotels for a couple of nights between 27-30 Dec time? I can do all the search engines but would prefer some personal recommendations if possible.

Looking for central area preferably with parking. 2 rooms (myself and mrs in one, lad in another).

TIA
