Get a travelcard to let you use all the trams (and lifts!). Go and visit the Expo site, great aquarium too.

Visit this cafe for Port and tarts: http://www.pasteisdebelem.pt/en.html

Be careful on the tiled pavements if it rains - lethal.

Lisbon Castle is great - you can get the tram up the little streets to the top and then walk down the narrow streets. Lots of great views of the city at the top and on the way down.

Vistit Jeronimos Monestary by the river as it is stunning (World Heritage site).

I usually diet exclusively on cakes during the day as they are so good. Terra is an extremely good veggie restaurant if a little out of the way. Seafood is usually very good if you go to a reasonable place.

If you want to travel outside the city, Sintra is worth a trip (I had a car for this so I'm not sure how easy it is on public transport). Cascais is a nice port town along from Estoril and there are direct trains. If you are doing a short weekend there is plenty in the centre to keep occupied.

Nearly everyone speaks English even if at first they don't seem to. Accept that taxi drivers might overcharge - I go a lot and it is just about the only thing that gets on my nerves.

Colombo shopping centre is a huge mall but is different enough to be interesting.
