Holiday route – what to see?
Discussion
Hi everyone.
This Saturday me and two friends are off for 2 weeks biking around Europe (on the motorised variety). We'll be doing a 2:1 night ratio of camping:B&Bs, and all that sort of thing is sorted/will be planned on the way by Herr Garmin.
We think we know what roads we want to do along the way, but we're after some nice cultural things to see as well. We're terrified of getting back and having people say 'ah you were right next to the cheesecake museum which has an entire wing dedicated to cakes shaped like Messerschmitts… you should've visited that!' or something.
So here's our route. We're skirting around Switzerland for personal reasons. You can click on each of the placemarks (which denote evening stopovers) to see roughly what we're doing roadswise at that point.

What 'must-see' things are along our route that are worth seeing? We're booked in for the Pagani factory tour in Modena – I think I left that off the map.
Thanks!
Tim

According to the map, you're heading out through Riems. Although not a lot to see, why not take in the old Grand Prix grandstand etc along the main road there?
And staying in Spa, you can ride most of the old Grand Prix track from Francorchamps (some good model shops in the town) and you're in the middle of "The Bulge" (Bastogne, Fuy, Stavelot) and not far from Waterloo if history is your thing.

Firstly, 'Tim', it's "my two friends and I"
Secondly, yes we're visiting the old pits for lunch on our first day. I think my idea was to grab some baguettes and brie from the local superhypermarché and sit in the grandstand and probably have a nap.
I think what we're looking for are either things to see in the evenings, stops along the way, things to go see on the way, etc. Is there anywhere to hire jet skis or do an assault course or traverse a gorge on a suspect-looking rope bridge perhaps?

After the Rute des Cretes (which is great btw) you could try the Schlumpf Museum in Mulhouse. Probably the best car museum I have visited.

When travelling from Munich you could try the cable car up the Zugspitze (which is Germany's highest mountain). You can also go up on the Austrian side.
We did it a couple of weeks ago and, whilst it was mostly cloudy, it was interesting throwing snowballs in August!
Lastly, we stayed one night in Luxembourg which was v interesting. Cheapest fuel by far as well (c.€1.30 per litre compared to €1.50 elsewhere in Be, F and D)
Looks ike a great trip.
