Spa - worth a detour?

I'm driving to Germany on Monday and wondered whether it is worth taking a detour via Spa. There nothing on at the circuit as far as I can tell, is it still worth a look around and will anything interesting be accessible to a passing PHer?

The alternative would be to call on my way back on Thursday, when I assume the F1 circus will be arriving in town, but I'm guessing it will be more locked down.

They close the circuit two weeks before the F1 roadshow arrives to make sure everything is nice and clean. We were over there at the same time last year but were lucky in that there was a classic car show on in the Spa town itself, so we had something to do (it was excellent by the way). However, if the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is your only reason for visiting then perhaps not.

Sorry about that.

We dropped by after a trip to the Nürburgring. The security guards wouldn't let us anywhere near, must admit we were disappointed but the classic car show at the weekend made up for it.
