A journalist mate of mine has just returned from 14 months traveling around the world, and has been blogging along the way. Now it's all done, he's come up with the following 101 lessons learned, which I thought might stimulate some intellectual debate here on PH. Or a slanging match. Either way, I thought it might be worthy of your interest.

He and his fiancee have been on the road for about 14 months and went all over the place. You can read all his updates on the same site - http://idoneaholiday.blogspot.com/
Not sure about budget I'm afraid, but I know they were saving hard for quite a while beforehand.

It takes approximately seven days for skin to regrow over your knees and elbows.

People are fundamentally good, especially once they accept the fact they can't sell you anything.
In all my travels I have felt the safest in the poorest of countries, where your money gets you nowhere, and nobody is trying to sell you anything. The most scared I have even been is down-town Los Angeles.
