Hotels near the Stelvio Pass?

On our euro trip, we plan to travel from Munich down towards the Stelvio pass, however, as this in itself is a long drive, we would like somewhere cheap and decent to stay over for a night so we are fresh to tackle the Stelvio etc.


Can anyone recommend any such hotels in this area? We are finding a distinct lack of the Etaps/other chain hotels that are so far a staple of our trip as they are cheap and reliably decent.

Any help really is much appreciated!

We left Lille one morning and stayed that night in Meersburg on the nrth shore of Bodensee, over Stelvio the following morning.

I'll see if I can find the hotel name, was very nice.

Stayed here randlomly on a bike tour. Sauna, nice pool/gardens, great rooms, cheap, what's not to like?
