Barcelona restaurant/day trips
Discussion
Wife and I were in Barcelona for 5 days in March, great place to go for a few days.
Worthwhile taking the Old Town walking tour in the morning: book from the UK via the Barcelona Tourism website.
The best restaurant we used was:
Restaurant Set Porches
Passeig Isabel 11
08003 Barcelona

If you're looking for a hotel, we stayed at the Hotel Montecarlo and although it's on La Ramblas it is well sited and a good hotel, in our view.

- essential to book
- been a restaurant since 1836
- excellent for the choice of different paella, fish etc.
- also it's where some celebs go although it's low key in this respect, lots of signed menues etc.

MaxF - Do a search back a few pages in this topic and you´ll see a few topic on BCN. I live in the city and have given a number of diatribes on where to go etc etc.
You did ask a specific one I´ve not covered before which is where to go outside of the city. Bear in mind that most things close on a Sunday except tourist things, so plan your weekend accordingly.
Monserrat - 1 hour on the train, about €15 return including great cable car.
Sitges - a great little town with cracking beaches. It is a gay hotspot, but don´t let that put you off.... and the shops are open on a Sunday
Tarragona - If you like history, then a 1 hour train ride to here is well worth it. The ruins are cracking to visit and quite cheap. the main square is also full of life.
Go up the coast to find some nice beaches. Few are secluded, but it´s cheap & easy on the train.
Search the other threads and if you have specific questions, happy to help

Some great tips - thanks.
I'm pretty keen on a segway tour (as I've always fancied a go and chances of seeing anyone else I know in Barcelona are remote).
We arrive on the Wednesday and fly out Monday night (We're flying in from Paris, then back to London). We have the hotel sorted - supposed to be ok and is on Las Ramblas.
