Hotel recommendations for Bordeaux and vineyards
Discussion
Evening all,
Ok me and the OH are looking at spending a few days in and around Bordeaux at the end of June.
The idea would be to take the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen and drive to Bordeaux via Le Mans. Spend a couple of days checking out the sights and visiting a few vineyards, bring back a few bottles of plonk as souvenirs.
Now, I have now idea on hotels in that area. Can someone recommend something?
Ideally a nice hotel with parking, nice rooms, well situated between Bordeaux and St Emilion (which I've heard is good for vineyards)
Any other tips for good vineyards or must sees would be great too.
Cheers

Just to update this thread really as I've just got back.
I can highly recommend getting to Saint Emillion for a day or two to check out the vineyards. A simply stunning little down with amazing restaurants and wine shops.
Parked easily enough for a couple of euro. Headed straight for tourist information and booked in 2 visits to vineyards. Great experience too and bought a couple of bottles of good plonk at the cellar door for about £10 each.
We stayed in the Hotel Mercure in Libourne

which was about 10-15min drive from Saint Emillion and a 25min drive from Bordeaux. So slap bang in the middle. Again, great rooms for a great price.
Bordeaux was nice. Better for shopping then sight seeing I reckon. Jump on one of the tourist trains that drive around the city for about an hour with the audio guide on headphones. That'll show you the things you want to see.
Drove down via Le Mans, which was a nice and welcomed stop. Had a look around the museum and went to look at the track.
All in all and nice little break for 4 days.
There we go. A good reference post in case anyone is looking to do the same at some point.
