I didn't use any cash at all when we had a family trip to the States last year. Everything went on the card.

I don't know why but I feel better with some cash in my pocket so to speak, the missus is saying $1000 which would include money t pay for our pre booked car from the airport to out hotel in Manhattan.

As always your feedback is appreciated.

We have about $500 in cash for our trip but also have the Starling Cards to use ATM if needed. If you have one of those cards (Revolut, Starling, Monzo etc) you can't go wrong I don't think.

This. These days I only use cash for gambling when in Vegas. Everything else is on card - you write in the tip amount on the receipt at bars/restaurants.
