Haha. The destination of the unimaginative insta generation. I’d cut my balls off than go there.
Don't they ask for your Instagram Handle on the way in rather than actual real name?As for OP's question im off to Sardinia end of September, hopefully beaches will be minimally populated with Italian mobsters in Speedos and we'll still get mid twenties.

As per usual I see this thread is sadly full of the anti-Dubai brigade, most of whom have never been there nor know anything about it apart from what they read in the Daily Mail...
To be fair it's probably more what its perceived to be like on social media rather than anything to do with daily mail readers. I'd like to visit just to see for myself but it does come across quite council from a lot of what I see online. Dubai can be a great holiday destination, i'm generally a big advocate. But I can see how it might go wrong for some holiday makers. It's a long, linear, narrow city and you need to know how to navigate it, where to stay, where to go, when to go etc. More so than other places. It's extremely busy these days and you don't really want to find yourself crawling down SZR for an hour. Whilst there is something for most budgets, in general, it's not cheap. I'd rather not go there and be thinking about (worrying) about spending money - say you've just finished a £15 glass of wine, you don't want to be hesitating about having a 2nd glass - if you think you might be hesitating or questioning it - then somewhere in Europe might be better.
there’s only one hotel as you know. My office for 12yrs was 5 minutes away. Occasionally went there for lunch when Sunday was part of the working week so you could sneak a pint and watch f1. Lovely view of the unfinished palm and the container terminal.
There are some really nice hotels in Dubai/uae that aren’t at all like the stereotype the daily mail likes to pedal. But JA resort isn’t one of them.

Another vote for the Maldives.
We're going soon and it's going to be cheaper than our last holiday in the Caribbean and arguably safer/more relaxing.
On the smaller islands with fewer facilities, downtime is pretty much enforced by the environment- I'm looking forward to stepping onto the island, taking my shoes off and not having to put them back on for another 10 days.
Here's my agenda:

Clearly you haven't been there for a while then. Lakeside is the most modern of the hotels there (which is the one I stayed it), and then there is the beach one and another one for which i can't remember the name of. Both of the later two are a bit dated, but i'm pretty sure top anything Skeggy has to offer! The Lakeside one was good enough for the Aussie, NZ and Irish cricket teams whilst I was there (during T20 WC). Maldives would be my main choice for a beach holiday though, by a big distance.
At the risk of starting a petty argument no one else cares about, that’s still the same hotel. JA Resort. Just a different building.
I meant cleethorpes btw. I was thinking of somewhere pointless right next to a huge docks, which is what JA resort is.
For this unfamiliar, it’s where it says Mina jebel Ali.

Haha, it is pretty petty but there is a difference between a resort and a hotel (IMO).
But rather than derail the thread further, I would recommend the Anantara in the Maldives. We stayed on Dhigu (which allows kids). The other two hotels within the resort are adults only. 3 islands linked by either boat or walkways, with amazing beaches but as there are 3 islands to explore, plus another one with just a bar and restaurant on it, there are options of which beach to visit. Having 3 hotels there also gives you a decent choice of restaurants to eat in. Plus if you surf there are good options available.

Here's CNT's menu for Octobers. Take your pick.
