Discussion
I think this has been discussed before but would like some advice. We have an issue with a dog across the road which its owners constantly let it roam around their front garden not on a lead whilst I appreciate this is not a problem the problem arises when I or any other dog owner walks passed it bounds across the road and attacks our small cavalier.
This is the third time this has happened and we have tried the asking kindly if they could keep their dog on a lead but to be honest we are not talking to the brightest dog owners in the world.
Today I think it may be time to report it to the local dog warden it was ok because I was with the wife and managed to pick our dog up before the other one pounced this was after asking the lads with the dog to hold on to it as we saw it was not on a lead which they did but the dog has no collar on and being a large dog managed to free itself.I did let off a torrent of abuse about keeping their dog under control but my wife is becoming very frightened about walking our dog when she is on her own.
Sorry for grammar and spelling but it was quite a scary moment and I am still shaking!!

What do you want to do?
You can report it to the police and if it's attacked your dog a couple of times (or you have other people who also report their dogs have been attacked) then it may well be PTS.
If you are happy to give them a chance then go round and tell them you really don't want to do get the police involved but if they don't control the dog you will report it, as you can't have your dog being attacked.

Dog on dog attacks are not covered under the DDA so the police will not be interested. Dog will not be pts. DDA is here: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1991/65/conten...
Dog warden may be able to help, but it is not really in their job description. However, many dog wardens are nice, friendly, helpful people and will have a word.
No collar means no tag, which is illegal.
