Just came home and found this! There is a perfect outline of a bird in flight embossed on my glass sliding doors out to the patio.

Hasn't come out the best but look at the second photo and you can actually see the pattern of the feathers! The bird must have hit at some speed but no sign of it (or a pile of feathers) outside!

quite ofton get these on our shop window, never found a bird either.

I've found a few of these on my window, why do they leave that outline ? Are their feathers full of dust or something ?!

Happens at my folks place quite regularly. My dad did have a massive cheese plant by the patio door though which must have looked inviting from the outside! Sometimes they will imprint and fly off or knock themselves out then come round after a while and fly off

It's called powder down. This fine "talc" is used by the bird for grooming. It's produced by specialized feathers that grow on the sides of the body.
