Not on a commercial scale but a couple at home?

We've just bought a coop and run that will house 2 - 3 chickens so are now looking to buy the chickens. Any advice on what to go for and where to get them? I'd like them to still be laying chickens so does that rule out rescue ex-battery hens?

Any other advice?

Cheers

out of 6 eggs we hatched four, but we donated them to a farm as we thought the noise of them were upsetting neighbours, only to be told they missed the noise of them and the sense of "ruralness",

they were fun as chicks but are very independant once grown up, i tried to play with them when they were bigger and they just pecked me and it bloody hurts.

My uncles keeps them for the eggs, although one got taken by the fox a couple weeks ago. Everytime I go round there so interesting to watch... will follow him around and hand feed pet them...

Great to have at home if I had some outside space I'd have some in a flash.
