It's a Foreskin Eating Beetle.

They travel in packs. Sleep well.

A small, harmless beetle going about his daily business. Man up for Christ's sake.

So it is, cheers. Gruesome furry little bugger, although seems somewhat lethargic, probably on his way out. Yuck!

More likely a herald of what's to come. They turn up in droves around about May, hence the name. They tend to like standing water - it's not unusual for swimming pools to get coated in them.

Thanks for info - can't recall having seen them round here before, though I may have dragged it back from France in my bike kit at the weekend! We do have a small pond in the back garden, will keep an eye out.
