My cat keeps jumping up onto the flat roof of the bathroom and getting stuck. He then meows until I get the ladder out the shed and climb up and get him down. This is the fourth time he's done it.

Well last night he stayed up there all night and he's meowing away while I type.

Will that teach him a lesson?

How old is it? One of ours was forever climbing on the garage roof and then squawking because she couldn't get off. Now she's grown up she can jump down on her own, they just naturally like being in high places especially if it gives a good view over the garden.

Really simple fix:

1. Collect box of :

2. Shake box in cat's local vicinity

3. ???

4. Profit

Maybe leave a box or something like a garden table next to the wall so he can jump down in 2 stages - might make him more likely to find his own way down.

One of mine did this a lot, I go and get her down. Eventually I didn't have a ladder so within a few hours she was outside the back door instead of on the roof.......

It may teach him a lesson, get some of his favorite food and wave it in front of him. Usually they can get back down again, it just takes them a little longer..

Last night as soon as I went to bed he was up there. rolleyes

So, I've left him up there today with food left outside so he can see it.

I think he's flirting with the new rabbit next door. They've taken quite a shine to eachother.

My cat used to jump onto my back when it got stuck on the garage roof.

I found out by accident that if i arched over, he would meow (cat language="stay there .. i'm going to jump!") and then land onto my back. When i crouched down he would jump off my back. Easier than getting a ladder anyway.

One of our cats is 13 and still has to learn how the cat flap works.... every time she uses it; spends ages working it out, then bats it a few times, then finally figures out it actually opens. I think this cat and our dog probably have a timeshare arrangement with a brain cell, just the one though.
