Anyone know what this is, hanging from the roof in our shed? There was a wasp flying nearby, so I can't help feeling it was something to do with that...

Cheers Beaver. Can you tell from the photos if it's a sprawling conurbation or currently derelict. Either way, do I destroy it?

R1 - is who serious? I'm afraid I've no idea what this is as I've never seen one before.

If anyone has any recommendations on next steps then I'm all ears!

Well it does look pretty active, you want to be careful around that.

It's about half built by the looks of it. There'll be a big, nasty evil bh wasp buzzing around. I'd suggest spraying the nest with as many different types of aerosol that you can find.* Oh and when the wasp attacks you (which it will) then run away very fast, or do wat I do and dress up in full motorcycle leathers including helmet and stand there like some wasp nemesis power ranger.

* this is not a recommendation and I deny all responsibility for any form of mutant zombie wasp that may appear as a result of this action, especially if they have a taste for human brains and ears.

I found one last year in my shed, slightly more advanced than that. I simply knocked it out of the shed door using a spade, then crushed it and got rid or all the remains. The wasp must have got the hint as she never rebuilt. (although I've not checked the shed since last Sunday)
