8 month old kitten in season
Discussion
No not with cats. They are induced ovulaters which means they have to mate to produce an egg. As a result they don't bleed but they will keep on calling on and off during the summer until mated not like a female dog who will only come in to season every few months for 3 weeks at a time.
We advise spaying at 5-6 months as they can mate from 6 months onwards it's also easier to not have to spay them whilst they are calling or early pregnant!

You get a lack of sleep! Tinks drove us nuts, came into season twice before she was spayed (vets wouldn't/don't do it til 6months old)
You were unlucky! it's unusual for cats to come into season younger than 6 months esp twice, we will spay younger as long as cat is 2kg or over. You get a lack of sleep! Tinks drove us nuts, came into season twice before she was spayed (vets wouldn't/don't do it til 6months old)
