...and I was totally transfixed. They have a large song range anyway, but I'd never heard half of the sounds it was making before. Also, the way it moved...when you see them, they're jerking and bobbing about. He was moving with a smoothness I don't think I've ever seen a creature use before and in slow motion. Was very, very impressive. If anyone has the slightest interest in nature, try and catch this, it's fascinating. To make it five times better he was only about a foot away from me in a bush.

I find birds a little dull, but when there up for it like this, they are BRILLIANT! I've seen loads of programmes on the tely of them doing these things. My fav is used in a promo of a programme that I'd love to know the name of....I can only describe it as blackbird size, but has an amazing bright/deep green display, and darts up and down a log, whilst seemingly staring into the camera!

On a similar note, have you heard about the jungle bird that can actually imitate a chainsaw? Obviously our need for paper & toilet rolls means we're cutting his house down, but the little fella has learnt to mimic the chainsaw!

Must admit, I'm not massively up on birds, but because it was live and in front of me, it was fab!

I love blackbirds, thankfully our garden seems to be blackbird central, they run around the grass, hop around the trees, take to the tree tops and have song "battles". I was in the garden once talking to someone on the phone and he asked "are you in an aviary or something?".

Most of all the sounds they make at dusk take me back to when I was a kid playing out in summer.

That begs some questions...
